An unexpected finding that is starting to be seen more widespread is the appearance of purple/red bumps on the feet and toes. Currently, all information on the condition is observational. This has been seen at times as an early sign of coronavirus infection or in those who have an asymptomatic coronavirus infection. In some cases, it was reported a few days before the onset of symptoms. It has been reported in younger populations (teens and young adults) as well.  In some cases, it can be painful to the touch or while walking with pain being described as burning and tingling and may resemble pain experienced by prolonged exposure to cold temperatures.  There is no clear explanation as to why this occurs.  The main theories as to how this occurs is either caused by inflammation in response to the virus or caused by clotting of the small blood vessels in the toes and feet.  Although it is seen with coronavirus, there are many other conditions that may mimic these symptoms and it is important to give an accurate and thorough history and be evaluated, and possibly tested for coronavirus.

We are offering Telemedicine services (via Apple FaceTime and Skype) when appropriate to help those who feel they may be experiencing this condition. Please call our office at 330-856-1700 to inquire. **New patients can use this service, but it will require patients to fill out and sign new patient paperwork located on the website, along with the telehealth consent form and copies/pictures of the front and back of insurance card/s (include primary and secondary insurance cards -if applicable) and a copy/picture of your current driver’s license. All of the information listed is due prior to (before) your appointment. Our office will give you an email as to where all the information needs to be sent. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact our office**
